Celtic's Top Scorer Giakoumakis Departs for Major League Soccer

Striker Joins Atlanta United After Impressive Season in Scotland

Giorgos Giakoumakis, Celtic Football Club's top scorer last season, has joined Major League Soccer side Atlanta United. The move comes as a surprise to many, as Giakoumakis was considered one of the best backup strikers in the Scottish Premiership.

Giakoumakis scored 17 goals in 29 appearances for Celtic last season, helping the club secure the Scottish Premiership title. He also scored four goals in six appearances in the Europa League.

Celtic have confirmed the transfer on their official website, but have not disclosed the fee involved. However, it is believed that Atlanta United have paid around £4 million for the 27-year-old striker.

Giakoumakis' departure leaves Celtic with a shortage of options up front. Kyogo Furuhashi is the club's only other recognized striker, and he has been injury-prone in the past.
